Restoring Peace and Harmony in Sin Ming

During the Circuit Breaker in 2020, residents and members of the public submitted feedback on the growing chicken population in Sin Ming Court. In response, a taskforce comprising resident volunteers, representatives from Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council and NParks was set up to address the feedback. Some of the measures taken include:

  • Campaigns to educate residents not to feed the chickens;

  • Relocation of the chickens to farms;

  • Habitat modification - tree pruning to make trees less attractive for roosting; and

  • Regular surveys to estimate the number of chickens in the estates.
