Clean & Clear Corridors. Safe Spaces for All.
1 October 2024
To address the issue of common corridor clutter, Bishan East-Sin Ming Community Emergency & Engagement (BESM C2E) Committee and Bishan East Zone 1 Residents’ Network collaborated with the People’s Association, SCDF, NEA, SPF and Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council to launch a contest titled "Clean & Clear Corridors. Safe Spaces for All." to promote a safer and more organised living environment in Bishan.
The contest was launched in January 2024 among selected blocks in Bishan for residents to come together to declutter the corridors. The team engaged households in the area to communicate the impact of cluttered common spaces on emergency responses and safety measures. In February 2024, agencies noted significant improvements in the common spaces when they returned to assess the outcome of the contest. The successful decluttering not only enhanced living spaces, but also fostered shared responsibility among residents.
