Community-led CCTV Enforcement against Illegal Parking outside Clementi Arcade

Residents had been expressing their frustration and concerns regarding the rampant illegal parking in the Sunset Way estate. Traffic jams and safety hazards became a daily ordeal, affecting over 1,000 households, especially during peak hours. The estate's layout exacerbated the issue as drivers attempted to navigate the single exit to the main road.

In December 2021, upon the request of the Sunset Way Neighbourhood Committee (NC), LTA deployed a mobile camera setup to catch and deter errant drivers. Sunset Way NC volunteers were also regularly on the ground to monitor the situation.

After the success of this initiative, which concluded in April 2022, the NC decided to rent a similar mobile camera set-up, in line with LTA standards. The number of offenders captured on camera gradually dwindled to zero.
