Improving Pedestrian Connectivity at Keng Lee and Kampong Java

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Moulmein-Cairnhill Grassroots received requests from Kampong Java residents for a barrier-free ramp on the footbridge across the canal in their estate. 

The issue involved several parties and included technical challenges such as site constraints due to a private development construction site.

LTA found an effective solution by working with V3 Engineering Pte Ltd (the contractor overseeing the private development) to provide an interim solution comprising a temporary crossing and a semi-barrier free ramp, with appropriate signs and railings on site before embarking on the provision of the full barrier free facility after the completion of the private development in 2023. The People’s Association and the Moulmein-Cairnhill Citizens’ Consultative Committee produced and installed a standee to help keep residents informed.
