Joint Effort to Resolve a Hoarding Case
29 November 2022
Agency for Integrated Care, Nee Soon Town Council, Nee Soon South Zone F Residents’ Committee, People’s Association
Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), Nee Soon Town Council (NSTC), People’s Association (PA) and Residents’ Committee (RC) worked together closely to declutter hoarding at a block in Yishun Street 81.
When NSTC first received feedback with regard to the hoarding case, NSTC engaged the resident and assisted him to clear the items at the corridor and staircase landing. When the situation persisted, NSTC approached the hoarder’s next-of-kin and found that he is suffering from mild dementia. To assist the family, NSTC worked together with the AIC, PA, and RC to provide medical and social support to the resident. NSTC continued to work with the resident’s next-of-kin to remove all of the obstruction along the corridor as well as the hoarded items in the residential unit.
The resident’s next-of-kin was grateful for the assistance rendered by NSTC and the other agencies. The other residents staying at the block were also relieved and happy that the corridor and staircase landing are cleared of obstruction.
