Singapore River One (SRO), the managing agent of Singapore River Precinct, highlighted an increase in rodent sightings and activities at Boat Quay and Circular Road. SRO worked with NEA to supplement their ongoing pest control efforts and engagement with operators/tenants to improve the situation.
Subsequently, the measures coordinated by NEA included:
Joint inspections and engagement with Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and NEA (Waste Management Division) to inspect food establishments;
SRO published an advisory on rodent management for operators and tenants in their monthly newsletter;
Conducted a series of night culling operations;
Liaison with PUB to rectify the drain defects and crevices at Boat Quay and Canton Street to prevent harborage of rodents;
NEA conducted inspections and treatment to reduce rat infestation at Boat Quay and
Deployment of smart rodent trap to enhance the monitoring of rodents at Boat Quay Conservation.
The rodent situation and environmental sanitation standards at Boat Quay improved and fewer instances of rat sightings were observed.
