Two Small Linkways – One Big Community

Living Sanctuary Brethren Church, Masjid En-Naeem, Paya Lebar Citizens’ Consultative Committee, People’s Association

In 2017, community partners Living Sanctuary Brethren Church (LSBC) and Masjid En-Naeem appealed to Paya Lebar Grassroots Organisations (GROs) for assistance to build covered linkways linking Blk 253 Hougang Ave 3 to Masjid En-Naeem and Blk 241 Hougang St 22 to LSBC. Parents had been providing feedback to both community partners that they were often affected during wet weather while going to and from the nearby childcare centres. 

The Paya Lebar GROs worked with the community partners to raise funds for the construction of both sheltered linkways. Time was taken to develop the design of the linkway. This also involved various tender processes. After raising sufficient funds in 2020, the GROs proceeded to work on the submission and approval for the administrative works with the relevant agencies and town council in 2021. The construction of both linkways was completed in March 2022.
