“Walk and Clean” in Mountbatten by Tanjong Rhu Neighbourhood Committee

The “Walk & Clean” initiative by Tanjong Rhu Neighbourhood Committee was developed for residents to contribute to neighbourhood cleanliness through litter-picking. 

The initiative expanded from seven condominiums in Oct 2020 to nine in the Tanjong Rhu Neighbourhood as of Mar 2021. It also stretched across to other parts of the Mountbatten division, such as the public housing blocks, with both Amber and Meyer Neighbourhood Committees also starting their own regular litter-picking activities.

To make litter-picking a convenient activity, litter-picking tools were placed at every condominium guard house within their estate so that residents could easily use them at any time.  

The Committees saw active participation, with more than 200 litter-picking kits being distributed to residents.  Many residents shared photographs of their litter-picking activities via Facebook, encouraging others to do their part as well.
